How a SETTLE Lamp Is Produced

Every SETTLE lamp begins as a digital form and is then produced in small batches in Sønderborg. Here are the six steps from drawing to finished lamp.
1. Digital form
Profiles, rib spacing and wall thickness are drawn and adjusted digitally until the form handles light the way we want. This is where a lamp's character is set, long before physical production begins.
2. Small-batch production
Once an order is placed, the shade is formed layer by layer in PLA. We do not produce for stock, each shade is made because it has been ordered.
3. Inspection and hand-finishing
Every shade goes through a check against the studio's finish standard before it continues. Rims and seams are then finished by hand, and the surface is checked in raking light to catch even small irregularities.
4. Base assembly
The shade is paired with a weighted matte base, cable and socket. The individual parts are screw-fitted so they can be separated for maintenance or replacement later.
5. Final inspection and packing
The lamp is switched on and inspected once more before being packed in minimal packaging and shipped from Sønderborg.
