How to Choose the Right Table Lamp

The right table lamp depends mainly on what it will be used for and how much space it has to stand on, not just on what looks best in the showroom.
Start with the function
Should the lamp give mood lighting in the evening, or should it also work as a reading lamp? A round, low shade like STILL 01 spreads a calm, dimmed light, while a taller, more open form like BLOOM 01 casts more light up and out into the room.
Measure the space before choosing size
On a small side table or nightstand, the lamp's base should not take up more than a third of the surface. On a wider console or coffee table, a larger, more sculptural form like WAVE 01 can fill the space well without feeling overwhelming.
Consider the shade's height
The bottom edge of the shade should ideally sit roughly at eye level for a seated person, so the light does not glare. That typically means a lamp height of 25-35 cm on a side table and a little taller on a console table.
Choose the light colour by room
For living rooms and bedrooms, we recommend warm light around 2200-2700K, see our guide to choosing between 2200K and 2700K for more detail.
